Almost 1,000 metres above sea level, the view at Hylja leaves you speechless. Situated on a mountain farmstead above Lalm in Gudbrandsdalen, lovingly cared for by the same family since the 1600s.
Silence sets the pace. Nature’s colours shape the atmosphere — sun-warmed timber, deep forest tones, vivid moss and heather, and slate stone meeting the golden sheen of copper.

Hylja is hosted by Åsta and Øystein, who share a love of nature and heritage. They look forward to welcoming guests to their secluded hideaway in Gudbransdalen.

Behind you, Jotunheimen rises — wilder, sharper, more dramatic — with summits close together and snow patches that hold on far into summer.

At Seterstuggu, there is always a table to gather around. Here we serve breakfast, simple lunches and wholesome dinners inspired by traditional recipes and mountain ingredients — shaped by the seasons and what we have available locally.
From summer 2026, Seterstuggu will be the natural meeting place for guests staying in the shepherds’ cabins: a warm, welcoming space to start the day slowly, and end it with good flavours, the glow of the fireplace and unhurried conversation.
